The way of the future…

So you’ve got your 3D Vision Kit and your 120Hz Monitor. You hook it all up, and 3D just-works™ – right?

Not if you’re using an HDMI connection: Even the most recent 1.4a revision of the specification lacks support for 120 frames per second at 1080/HD resolutions. HDMI simply doesn’t have the necessary bandwidth – the best that the latest HDMI spec. can manage is 24 3D frames per second at 1920×1080, and even then only in a packed format.

For PC 3D either Dual-link DVI or DisplayPort is required – although the only DisplayPort-equiped 3D monitors on the market right now seem to be the curvaceous new Samsung 9-series range. Shiny 😉
